Ram's comprehensive brake system includes Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Electronic Stability Program (ESP™),* which is comprised of several brake subsystems: Brake Assist, All-Speed Traction Control, Hill Start Assist, and Trailer Sway Control. *No system, no matter how sophisticated, can repeal the laws of physics or overcome careless driving actions. Performance is limited by available traction, which snow, ice and other conditions can affect. When the ESP warning lamp in the instrument cluster flashes, the driver needs to use less throttle and adapt speed and driving behaviour to prevailing road conditions. Always drive carefully, consistent with conditions. Please always wear your seat belt.
This Ram is packed with advanced safety and protection features. Standard on all Dodge Ram 1500s, Electronic Stability Program (ESP™)* constantly analyzes steering wheel angle, turning rate, lateral acceleration and individual wheel speed to determine appropriate brake and throttle actions.
Research shows that in an emergency situation, most drivers will not apply the brakes hard enough or quickly enough to achieve shortest stopping distance. Brake Assist helps overcome this tendency by using the ESP™ system to instantly apply maximum available pressure to the brakes. In other words, when you stomp on the brakes, the ESP system communicates with Ram's onboard computer and tells Brake Assist to help out by ensuring that full braking power is at work. As part of the standard Electronic Stability Program ( ESP™ package),* Hill Start Assist (HSA) automatically stops the vehicle from rolling backward while stopped on an incline. HSA disengages when acceleration resumes. The premise is simple: a locked, skidding tire won't steer. To help make sure this doesn't happen to you, every Ram comes with a standard Anti-lock Brake System (ABS). |
SIDE-CURTAIN AIR BAGS*
Ram's standard side-curtain air bags* offer additional side-impact protection to outboard seat occupants. Each air bag has inflated chambers strategically located at head level to help reduce the potential for head injuries in the event of a side-impact collision or rollover. Curtains are twice the volume of the previous generation.
*Always sit properly with the seat belt fastened. Children 12 and under should always be in a back seat correctly using an infant or child restraint system, or the seat belt properly positioned, dependent on the child's age and weight.
TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM
Another standard safety feature on the Ram 1500, this technology notifies you through a warning indicator light in the instrument cluster if the air pressure in any tire drops below a safe level.
PARKVIEW® REAR BACKUP CAMERA
With the touch of a button, the available ParkView® Rear Backup Camera shows you what's behind your vehicle on the full colour multimedia touch screen. Hooking up a trailer is a guessing game no more.
*Intended to provide assistance to the driver. Always exercise appropriate care while reversing.
